The Queen’s University Blood Team (QUBT) is a student-run organization that promotes, facilitates, and de-stigmatizes blood, organ, and stem cell donation. In collaboration with Canadian Blood Services, QUBT organizes off-campus donations via LifeBus shuttles. The Queen’s University Blood Team seeks to educate students about the importance of blood donation and other initiatives of the Canadian Blood Services. We know that some people are uneasy about the prospect of donating, so we work to reduce the negative stigma and make people more comfortable about the prospect of giving blood. Our club seeks to provide accessible, easy, and safe spaces for donating blood on campus. We strongly believe that this is a worthy cause to volunteer for to help save lives make a difference in our community!
QUBT offers exciting initiatives throughout the year to engage the Queen’s community, including the Stem Cell Speaker Series, Trivia nights, Stem Cell Swabbing events, and the Black Donors Save Lives Campaign. Throughout the years, QUBT has collaborated with other campus clubs such as Queen’s Hillel, MedLife, Queen’s Nursing Society, Queen’s Law Cancer Society, Queen’s Commerce Kids, and Queen’s Native Student Association, and local Kingston organizations such as the Transplant Advocate Association to spread the importance of blood, tissue, and stem cell donation to broader populations.
